ZipMail for IBM Domino Databases - Server version

ZipMail /DB Server compresses all the attached files stored within your existing Notes databases

On the top of the automated Zip Compression of the IBM Notes attached files, ZipMail /DB Server also performs optimization of the copied and pasted bitmaps stored in the messages and documents of your existing IBM Notes databases.

ZipMail /DB Server enables you to compress, into Zip files, all of the attached files of the IBM Notes databases (email and non-email .NSF) stored on your Domino server by using a load zipmail command in your Domino server administration console.

ZipMail /DB Server is a program for the Domino servers running under Microsoft Windows.
If your Domino servers run under other Operating Systems like Linux, AIX, Solaris, AS400-iSeries and S390, you can use ZipMail /DB Extended Client.

Once ZipMail /DB Server is installed, you have a new load zipmail command in your server administration console.
By using a single load zipmail command you can process thousands of databases in a single operation.

The load zipmail command accepts numerous parameters that can also be provided in parameter files (.INI or .NSF).
ZipMail /DB Server comes with 2 graphical parameter file editors, enabling you to easily manage the compression process parameters and the lists of databases to compress, and an extensive help file including a step-by-step tutorial designed to get you up and running compressing your first databases in less than 10 minutes.

More Details: How ZipMail /DB Server reduces the size of your existing IBM Notes databases by 30% to 50%

Zip compression of attached files stored in the messages and documents of your existing IBM Notes databases

In short, ZipMail /DB Server transforms documents containing attached files like this one:

in documents like the one below, where each attached file has been replaced by its compressed .Zip copy (using industry-standard Zip format):

The original icons of the files (Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel etc...) can be preserved as in the above screen shot or you can define an icon of your choice to be used for the resulting Zip files.
The original file extensions (.doc, .xls) can be preserved or not in the name of the resulting Zip files depending on option settings.

Optimization of the copied and pasted images (screen shots, pictures) stored in the messages and documents of your existing databases

ZipMail also performs copied and pasted image optimization and reduces the size of all of the screen shots and pictures pasted into your existing Notes documents by up to 95%.

Zip Compression of attached files + copied and pasted image optimization applied to the millions of documents of your .NSF databases achieve huge Notes storage savings!

ZipMail /DB Server Components

A "load zipmail" command to compress all the attached files and optimize all the images stored into your existing IBM Notes databases

All you have to do is to enter a load zipmail command line in the administration console of your Notes server.

You can compress attached files and optimize images in multiple databases in a single operation.

For instance to process all of your mail NSF files, simply enter:
load zipmail –Databases c:\IBM\domino\data\mail\*.nsf

The load zipmail command accepts many parameters enabling you to tune the compression process.

You can also manage the ZipMail /DB Server compression parameters and lists of databases to compress in parameter files to avoid passing numerous parameters on the command line.

load zipmail

Like any Domino server console command, the load zipmail command can be easily scheduled by using a Domino server program document.

ZipMail /DB Server is ultra-concise optimized C++ code including state-of-the art Zip compression and image optimization routines (No IBMScript, no agents).
The total size of the program running on the Domino Server (including the compression and image optimization engines) is under 370 KB.
Once the load zipmail compression job is achieved, the ZipMail program is unloaded.

Two parameter file editors to manage the compression parameters and lists of databases to compress

ZipMail /DB Server comes with two dedicated graphical self documented parameter file editors enabling you to easily define the compression process parameters and specify the lists of databases to compress.
ZipMail /DB Server parameters can be stored in NSF databases or in INI files.

The first editor is for the parameter files containing the functioning parameters of ZipMail /DB Server:

ZipMail /DB Server - Editor for the compression process parameters

The second editor is for the parameter files containing the list of the databases to be compressed by ZipMail /DB Server.
This editor is only useful if you want to compress particular lists of databases. If you want to compress all of the databases of a given folder, you do not even need it.

ZipMail /DB Server - Editor for the lists of databases to compress

ZipMail /DB Server parameters can be stored in NSF databases or in INI files.
The ZipMail /DB Server parameter file editors can be installed on a workstation having a IBM Notes client installed or on the Domino server on which ZipMail /DB Server is running.

Extensive help file including a 10 minute step-by-step tutorial

ZipMail /DB Server is delivered with an extensive help file also available in PDF format.
By using the step-by-step tutorial included in this help file you can get up and running with ZipMail /DB Server and start compressing your first databases in less than 10 minutes.

Quick setup

ZipMail /DB Server is very easy to install (modular setup packages for the compression engine and the editors does all the job).
As for each of our products, installation assistance by phone or by email is included in your support contract at no additional charge and free when evaluating the product.

ZipMail /DB Server is a program for Windows Domino servers (32-bit and 64-bit versions)

ZipMail /DB Server is for Windows platofrms and works with IBM Domino 32-bit and 64-bit servers from versions 4.5.4 and higher, 5.xx, 6.xx, 7.xx, 8.xx and 8.5.x running under Windows 32-bit and 64-bit versions.

For Domino servers running under other operating systems like Linux, AIX, Solaris, AS400-iSeries and S390

If your Domino servers run under one of these Operating Systems, you can use ZipMail for IBM Notes Databases Extended Client.
ZipMail /DB Extended Client is based on the same compression and bitmap optimization engines as ZipMail /DB server and enables you to compress databases stored on any IBM Notes server in a single operation, from a Windows workstation.
